BushBabyRebellion

Here is the website to my first band. Me and my brother devolped it on angelfire not knowing what we were doing, but it actually ended up being pretty cool. I haven't checked it in years and was amazed it was still up. Although the band no longer climbs the charts I found it interesting that people still frequently look at BushBabyRebellion. So here is a link to the site, and a few sample mp3's of my short and sweet musical career.

Rockies done 4 another ten years

Being a Rockies fan since they were introduced into the league in 1993, it was not easy supporting them for 14 long years to make a legit run at the World Series. In 2007 the Rockies won 20 of their last 21 games to gain a wild card spot in the N.L league playoffs. I was so proud of the Rocks, after all my support through several terrible seasons, we were finally a force to be reckoned with. With hard hitters like Matt Holliday and Troy Tulowitzki the Rockies were looking like the hottest team in the league, and made it all the way to the World Series only to get swept by the Boston Redsox. I wasn't dissapointed in them they played well and the Redsox were just to overwhelmed with talent. Plus just making the playoffs was such an accomplishment.

But just two years later, the Rockies seem to have given up hope and have traded or let go almost have of that N.L championship team including Matt Holiday it seems like the process has started over. But of coarse I will never lose hope in my Rockies and when I'm 34 or so looking at the team holding that trophy high I'll know I stuck with them all the way.

It worked!

Recently I was surfing the web for cool snowboarding art for our final project on google, and stumbled on some really cool stuff. One artist i ended up messaging on Myspace for permission to use some of his sketches, and It worked! LILO KREBERNIK gave me permisson and greetz he goes by 0717 and he is a mid-twenty and a artist from Austria who has some legit urban art and graphic design on snowboards and murals. Here is some of his work, and you'll find more on our new website riderspectrum.com

Getting my friend some exposure

For some extra credit Ii decided to put my friends band Devin and his acoustic jams on the world wide web, with pictures and a few of his songs, it is a start for this small town jammer, who no ones heard unless you stumbled into the only bar in Creede, CO. He's got some real deep lyrics and some simple peaceful jams, although his style might not be what your into you should check out Downhill Devin & the Lack of Triumph on myspace and see what you think.

Eeeck on a me bloggin

With my wallet looking pretty thin. I'm really trying to figure out other ways to have fun other then running down to the liq store and spending 15 bucks on a twelve pack. So I started doing a few things that, my daily routine had not seen in a while. I started writing a short novel, began my dj career on my mac computer with the garageband program, and am considering starting to pick up the my hobby of running around the track. So maybe Bush's economic strategy wasn't so bad he just wanted us be more productive. ha ha, ya right.

I'm so tired

Quoting the late great Beatles, "I'm so tired I haven't slept a wink, Im so tired my mind is on the brink, I wonder if I should get up and fix myself a drink." Finals finally winding down fatigue is setting in, but I just see life as a Beatles album somethimes and it on to the next track "black bird" which puts me to ease and lets me relax to the mellow tone of Black Bird

The new artist of the year in

Wale- one of the the newest hip-hop artist on the scene and at 23 he's already done tracks with Jay Z and Lil Wayne. Top tracks that you should check out: W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E, ADD, and Nike Boots. Recommended by a peer and classmate T. Kunk, this guy is so sick so I just thought I'd put the name out to all the Interactive Media Crew. One of his has a mix-tape with a Seinfeld theme which gives his rap a sense of humor while throwing an incredible ease and grace with his high intensity flows. Here's a song called Artistic integrity from a mix-tape about nothing.

Sick tags

As a kid I remember my cousin Abe traveling from Minneapolis, MN and would tell me all his sick teen ager stories, and how he got in tons of caught for tagging a bridge with some Graffiti and he showed some pictures and I remember being amazed by the time and detail that was put into these murals. He was a legit artist and used to always make him draw me Ninja Turtles. But I remember him telling me that they made him paint it up himself to the original color of the bridge. And I was disappointed because the pictures and so legit and it was under a bridge that no one really saw anyways. In looking at recent graffiti across the U.S I noticed that the art and statements these rambunctious hoodlums are making are brilliant, and keep getting better. So this blog is shouting out to cities all over the United States if the tag is legit and appeasing to the human eye, let it be. Heres some recent tags from the Minneapolis/St.Paul Area.

Nugs are 4 real

I was skeptical when the Nuggetts lost hand down to the Lakers and Spurs, but watching highlights of Carmello Anthony score 33 points in a single quarter made me open my eyes and realize the Nuggetts really have a chance this year.and are 15-6 and top of their division and trail the number one Laker's by just six games for the top spot in the Western conference. And who's the real hero of the Nuggets success, my main man Chauncy Billups. Billups who was traded for superstar scorer Allen Iverson just a month ago, and since then the Nuggets are 13-4 and it seems as if everyone is playing better.

Now being a long time fan of Chauncy also known as Mr. Big Shot, I knew the trade would benefit the Nuggets and give the team a legit shot at the title, or at least out of the first round. Year after year I have been disappointed by my teams early exit, but to be a Nugget fan you must have faith and patience and know that we will overcome, and see the promise-land.

Haters

I was on youtube the other day and I was just amazed about how many haters our posting comments relentlessly. I was listening to a fairly decent hip-hop gruop called the Cool Kids and you could not watch a single video with out reading a ton of negative comments about hip-hop, their beats, and even the color of thier skin.

According to urbandictionary.com Elitist defines Haters as People that make up reasons to hate certain people just because they aren't as wealthy or successfull as them. People are often hating:

1. Bill Gates
2. Blink 182
3. George W. Bush
4. Halle Barry
5. Ben Affleck

This was interesting because a few of these I couldnt imagine hating on some of these people, including Halle Berry and Blink 182, so I decided hate on this guy not for the ammount of talent he has, but for A-putting Bill Gates and Blink 182 above Dubya Bush, and B-The user spelt one of the most beautiful actresses in the business's name wrong. So what im saying is be educated about your hating, as my interactive media teacher pointed out to me in one of my first blogs about Sarah Palin.

Whens the big break

It seems like everyone in this world want to make it big, and if your not going to college and finding that cure for aids were all looking pretty bleak as far as fame goes. So I'm gonna start brainstorming about all the ways I could make it big in this blog. A few things come to mind. First be the best at something, or the worst at something. So that pretty much eliminates my skills because I'm not good enough at any of my hobbies to be the best at, so unless I start practicing at sucking at a certain thing until I'm the ultimate worse in the world at, its probably not going to happen. Number two, save someone's life preferably someone famous. This one is tricky because A, were in Durango, not to much excitement to begin with, and B what are the odds that Mary Kate and Ashley are going to be stuck in a burning building anyways. So far all of these sound pretty tough and I was hoping on not landing on my last one which was to commit a really intense crime but thats not my style and plus I don't think I could do the whole prison thing, so until something comes up I guess I'm just gonna shoot for that Fort Lewis degree and just do my best out there in this thing called life.

A snowboarding project with no snow

My final project with Dan, Kunk, and Sage involves our interest, has a great idea behind it mixing art with snowboarding with art which seems revolutionary in its own right. The only problem its a snowboarding project with no snow. It is only a minor problem because we are determined borders and will be shredding the mountain in whatever conditions, but still, this blog is to contact the snow Gods for a little help :)

Facebook ne 1

So our discussion we had about the lame applications facebook has to offer the other day left me in a hunt for some good apps. So one day when I was supposed to be doing a paper, I naturally went to facebook. And I thought lets see how much fun I could possibly have and started browsing random applications. Now there are over hundreds of applications so I downloaded an application to search for for facebook applications, lol. And browsed over hundreds of apps, and most of them I definitely felt like I was wasting my time.
The one application I found in my research that I still continue to play is Dope wars. The application puts you in a simulated world of factual places including Uptown New York and the Ghetto where you sell your "dope". There is a lot of strategy in prices, so to make it to the top you really have to put your Dope Wars characters life on the line. Check it out but don't spend to much time, homework should always be the top priority. not....

STS9

I just got back from one of the most epic shows iv'e seen yet in my lifetime, and am just overall impressed with the performances of The Pnumatrio and Sound Tribe Sector Nine. The music was astound, the lights amazed me because the technology bands hold these days, and the energy of the band left the crowd wanting more.I knew STS9 was known for their live performances and did not dissapoint while Pnumatrio a fairly new band out of Memphis,TN was suberb and fueled the crowd with energy before the main attraction came to stage. These experimental/instrumental made the four and half road trip seem like nothing and cannot wait to see these bands again.
I recommend seeing either of these bands asap

A whole new mind

In the book A Whole New Mind by David H. Pink analyzes the human mind and how it functions in today’s world. Pink who was a political speech writer for Al Gore, gives a very in depth description of the brain and its functions. The human mind is broken down into two main sections. The right portion of the brain involves more feeling and emotion while the left side of the brain is more practical thinking and has more of reality base structured way of thinking of things. It’s amazing how these two sections really do control how mankind functions as a whole and ultimately forms society. I thought its interesting that he points out the fact that developed countries are becoming more right brain orientated thinker, which is forming as Pink calls the "conceptual age." To thrive in this age he says we must indulge in several competencies to succeed in the right brain orientated world Design, story, symphony, empathy, play, and meaning is what this country must thrive on make us better then the rest. This is interesting because it breaks down what human needs need to be addressed. The book was fairly dense to read but when your done with the book it makes you think of which side of your brain in your actions.

120 ways to better my mind

In looking in all the ways litemind.com had to offer in imporving my mind. One of the more interesting exercises I thought would help me the most in times of need, is the exercise called the memory palace. The technique provides the user with an exellent way to assosiate phrases, names, and places with childhood experiences. This ineractive exercise lets you use your past to help you grasp new information. The idea is that you use a setting you are very familair with and you take a journey placing "memory pegs". Memory pegs is the device you want to remember and putting it in the setting. To make the word or phrase stick you must, "Make it crazy, ridiculous, offensive, unusual, extraordinary, animated, nonsensical — after all, these are the things that get remembered, aren’t they? Make the scene so unique that it could never happen in real life. The only rule is: if it’s boring, it’s wrong." So I thought this might be a fun and interesting way to study.

The example I used was the periodic table in my first childhood home. I began the experiment walking in the front door of my house and picturing the first element Hydrogen, as an H walking up the stairs, and as I turned to the kitchen dining room table to my left I see Helium, Lithium, Beryllium sitting there as their respected letters. So just like that I learned the first four elements walking in the first room of my home.

Snow is in the air

Winter is right around corner and Im getting super stoked. So just thought I'd throw in one of my favorite snowboarding bits by Travis Kennedy from the 06 Forum video

100 days 14 hours 36 minutes and 2 seconds left
until President Bush and his administration
are out of office
(unless, of course, he's impeached)

Thought I'd put this up because the last eight years I have been nothing but unimpressed by our president. 100 days left!

Stop building so much stuff

According to recent Indogenous studies Aborigini tribe in the southern Australian region were the Homosapiens to roam this planet. Which is interesting because their way of life and culture is at risk. Technology and cities have never been as prominant, and the sad thing is were running out of room. Many tribes our having to adapt to different life styles that they completley disagree with. They believe that the more we out of touch with nature the more out of touch they are with their dream state or spiritual well being. This is very disconcerning to me and has influenced me to become a little more intouch with nature, because one day, it could all be done.

laters summer

Summer and Winter. These two rivals constantly competing to see who gets the longer chance to live out there respected seasons. This was the year where winter and summer worked together to give us a couple badass seasons in the year. it couldnt worked out any better for the town of Durango this year. Having one of the best winters in years made the summer that much more enjoyable. School was cancelled several times last year to the incredible ammount of snow pack and this made the river litterally raging with power as the river was around the 2,800 (cubic feet per second) at high water which is bringin in new water from the mountains at an extremley fast rate to give all the raft guides all over the state something to smile about. Now I am more of a winter man myself been snowboarding for over ten years, but having an outdoor adventure sports during the month of June was amazing. Being a rookie guide this summer was a great experience and I cant wait for next summer already, but snowboarding make the waiting process that much easier.

Emergence

In this radiolab piece emergence, a scene is explained where tens of thousands of firflies flash together along a river bank all simultanously cordinating there bulbs all at the same time. And I got to thinking it sounds a lot like humans in some ways. Instead of using our bodies to light up the riverside we use our florecent lights and televisions to light up our cities. The simplicity of a fireflies life just seems so much more at peace, that I think we should all just chill by the river and communicate peacfully with flashlights.
