A whole new mind

In the book A Whole New Mind by David H. Pink analyzes the human mind and how it functions in today’s world. Pink who was a political speech writer for Al Gore, gives a very in depth description of the brain and its functions. The human mind is broken down into two main sections. The right portion of the brain involves more feeling and emotion while the left side of the brain is more practical thinking and has more of reality base structured way of thinking of things. It’s amazing how these two sections really do control how mankind functions as a whole and ultimately forms society. I thought its interesting that he points out the fact that developed countries are becoming more right brain orientated thinker, which is forming as Pink calls the "conceptual age." To thrive in this age he says we must indulge in several competencies to succeed in the right brain orientated world Design, story, symphony, empathy, play, and meaning is what this country must thrive on make us better then the rest. This is interesting because it breaks down what human needs need to be addressed. The book was fairly dense to read but when your done with the book it makes you think of which side of your brain in your actions.
